Other Devices
A selection of other random devices that I've made. Click for full images.

Alexa based security
This was just a fun gadget - IR beam across my drive to announce "Gate" from the smart speakers, and turn low level lighting on downstairs between certain times for my return from work.

DMX Media Player
Media player for an Illusionist show on cruise ships. Extremely tight space allowance for the enclosure. I don't think I could have made it any smaller.
I made 10 of these in total.

Blind Control System
Just a fun little personal project - control system to open or close my bedroom blind, via Alexa or manual control. Automatically closes the blind just before sunrise during the summer months so that you can benefit from the window being wide open but without being woken by the sun.

Dowser
DMX projector dowser. The only thing purchased for this was the DMX relay board. The rest was made from scrap parts. It was big, it was ugly, but it worked every time.

Multiplay remote.
The sound op for an amateur dramatics company was suffering from the effects of chemotherapy and struggled to press the right buttons on the laptop (once pressing power instead of escape). I lashed this up quickly to make it much easier for him. USB keyboard PCB inside with contacts soldered to the appropriate contacts. LEDs powered from the USB supply.

Single channel cue light
I was asked to build a single channel cue light for a comedy club, with the usual "cheap as possible" request.
Made out of old comm belt packs and some relays. Connected with 3pin xlr, worked over 200m of cable with no issue.

Wireless comms
Another no budget build. Wireless comms hire was out of the question - so I connected headsets to wireless telephones with an intercom function. They worked surprisingly well.

"Bindicator"
Really simple little build to show which bin to put out. Light comes on from noon until midnight the day before, then at 1am a latching relay gets a pulse to swap circuits. That's it. Would have been even easier if Amazon let you program fortnightly repeats of routines!
