Low Voltage
This is just a small collection of photographs - when I remember to take them - of some work I've done over the past few years. Click for full images.

Queue line RGB LEDs
"Compound" scare maze at Alton Towers. Queue line lighting system. This install required the use of second hand lengths of cable. Add in the lack of easy access, it was somewhat a challenge.

Fault-finding
I didn't build this box, but I was asked to fault find it. After I tightened about 50% of the terminals, it worked fine.
Strangely I find fault finding quite therapeutic, even under pressure. It's all about being methodical.

Altonville Scare Maze
Altonville scare maze GPIO installation. I only did the power supplies for this part of the install, which frankly was a nice break from the more complicated stuff.

Nemesis Reborn SPI
One of 3 SPI controllers for the Nemesis Reborn station area at Alton Towers Resort. Quite a power-hungry install with limited space, as always!

HEX Preshow LED
Just because nobody will see it, doesn't mean I don't work as neatly as possible. The DMX cables were yet to be run in, hence them hanging over the side. Unfortunately the cable sheath was too big for the driver clamp, but that was what was provided so I did the best with what I had. I think I installed 20 of these throughout the refurbishment of Hex at Alton Towers. I should put a duster in my Pelicase.

Nemesis Reborn Station SPI Control
One of 3 SPI controllers for the Nemesis Reborn station area at Alton Towers Resort.
Another power-hungry device. Looked good though.

LED Driver enclosure
Another ATR driver enclosure for the "Compound" Scaremaze. I built 10 or so of these for the new maze in 2024. It's always easier to build these on my own workbench, but sometimes it's necessary to build them outside in the rain, which can be challenging.

XLRs
Another batch of XLR tails. First lot of 200 required for the job. Music and tea help me through the long nights! I prefer to use Neutrik connectors where budgets allow.

LED Battens
Homemade "LED Battens" - Simply some LED tape in aluminum profile mounted on the end of some wooden battens for use in set practical doorways causing minimal protrusion. People asked me "where did you get those fixtures from?" which I took as a compliment.

Graduation Show
LED control board for a performing arts academy end of year show. Needed to fit into a certain space, hence being quite compact. XLR outputs are mounted in the small Wiska boxes

SPI Drivers
Tails added to a selection of SPI drivers for a company to add to their hire stock. I don't mind producing large numbers of identical things, as long as I have a brew on the go.

Jack and the Beanstalk Show Sign
JATBS show sign - components and cables had to be run obscurely to avoid other set pieces and flying points. Each letter has individual RGB control. Scenic would paint this during the day and I'd wire it a night, Took a couple of days/nights overall.

JATBS Front
Jack and the Beanstalk front image. Still needed the inserts for the letters A&D fitting. Seeing the artwork being applied gave me a new respect for scenic artists

False Proscenium Light Box
False proscenium light box, consisting of 600, 500mm lengths of dummy led tape with a plug and socket at each end to allow the breaks in the sections to be adjusted to suit. Unfortunately this is the only photograph I took of this build. I consumed a lot of tea during the 6000 solder connections I made.

A Tiring Night
The beginnings of a lot of LED control enclosures for Alton Towers. The queue line for "The Curse of Alton Manor" For logistical reasons these had to be built on site, at night.

Early Automotive Craziness
Early work - I was 22 when I created this control system to open the roof on my car, then raise a laser before starting a laser display for a Christmas light switch on. Bit dusty from storage, but still works!
